The brand was founded in 2014 by Lehani Steyn, a mother of two who sought unique, affordable, and high-quality clothing for her daughters. Unable to find what she was looking for, she began designing and sewing her own pieces. Inspired by her mother’s creativity, Lehani transformed a personal passion into a label recognised for its handmade quality, distinctive style, and durable favourites designed for childhood adventures.
Every garment in the Dandylion Kids collection is handmade with care in our Cape Town studio. What started in a small Wendy house has grown into a dedicated team of makers, creating clothing that combines playful design with everyday practicality.
With the exception of the muslin range, every item is proudly local – designed, sewn, printed, and dyed in Cape Town. Supporting the South African economy and uplifting fellow entrepreneurs is central to our mission, contributing to job creation and community empowerment.
The name Dandylion honours Lehani’s stillborn son and the dreams she held for him. It is a brand built on heart and resilience, with each piece carrying a sense of love, soul, and wonder.
